The United States has one of the safest food supplies in the world. Nevertheless, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), foodborne disease causes approximately 76 million illnesses, 325,000 hospitalizations and 5,000 deaths in the U.S. each year — and that’s just an estimate… The updated FDA web page Recalls, Market Withdrawals & Safety Alerts makes it easier for consumers to use with search results providing data from news releases and other recall announcements in a tabular format. Covering recalls of food, drugs, products affecting animal health, biologics and medical devices, the table organizes information from news releases on recalls since 2009 by date, product brand name, product description, reason for the recall and the recalling company. It also provides a link to the news release on each recall for more detailed information. [The Highlight HEALTH Network]
