An American Dream Come True

I just read a great story in our Eastern Library System Newsletter;  the May/June issue of the Eastern Express is posted at –http://www.elsne.org. The front page story is entitled “An American Dream Come True” about Karla Shafer,  Director of the Hooper Public Library in Hooper, Nebraska.     She had applied for funding to support local literacy programs in her community.     You have to read the story and find out how she came to influence the American Library Association efforts for continuing funding.     It’s a great story about someone who really makes a difference in improving literacy,  “better equiping those in her community who need to learn to speak English and adapt to a new culture”.    KUDOS to Karla!

The article also mentions she is an author currently publishing “her next book, Library Lady, a moving and at times humorous telling of her experiences in twelve years of library work”.      I’m going to check it out.

Thank you so much for your kind response to the Eastern Express article.

My latest book “Library Lady” will be released in about 4 weeks. It is off to the publisher, but things can be unpredictable.
I hope after you’ve read it, you will haved laughed, cried, and closed it with a sigh. 🙂
