“Challenges and Innovative Solutions for Educating Self-Care Skills to Deaf and Low Literacy Clients”

Bet Key Wong, MS, RN; Central Mass Health Literacy Project, posted the following on the HealthLiteracy Listserv.

“On May 11, 2011, the Central Mass Health Literacy Project organized a health literacy symposium featuring a presentation by Gregory Shuler, RN;  on “Challenges and Innovative Solutions for Educating Self-Care Skills to Deaf and Low Literacy Clients”.

In case you miss it, the presentation is available on YouTube at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XCC0hQIV6kI. The link is also available on our web site at www.centralmasshealthliteracy.org.

Greg’s presentation has received great reviews and it is one of the few health literacy presentations that has sign language interpretation and targets deaf clients.

Greg discussed about the visual aids developed at Worcester State Hospital.  I would like to have your feedback on how the materials in his presentation can be used for the larger low literacy population.

We will have his slides available on our web site at www.centralmasshealthliteracy.org in the near future.
