Enhancements to LactMed

The following was posted on the MCR-MCMLA [mcmla-l@listserv.kumc.edu] listserv.

LactMed, the free National Library of Medicine database of peer reviewed information on medicines for breastfeeding mothers, has been updated to include complementary and alternative medicines (CAM). Information on nineteen frequently used supplements – including comfrey, St. Johns wort, garlic, ginger, and black cohash – are now available with many more to come. A complete list of CAM records in the database can be found by using the search term “complementary therapies” in the main LactMed search box. The free LactMed App for iPhone, iPod touch, iPad and Android devices is also now available. [da]
